About the Event

ORGANIZATION
Maia Team Cup 2026 is organised by Academia de Xadrez da Maia (AXM), as part of the Maia International Chess Festival 2026.

TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR AND ARBITERS TEAM
The Tournament Director and the arbiters’ team will be appointed by AXM.

PARTICIPANTS

The tournament is open to the first 8 registered teams. Each team must consist of a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 players. Registration is only valid after payment confirmation and manual validation by the organisation.

REGISTRATION

  • Entry fee: 100€ per team
  • Registration is limited to the first 8 teams
  • Proof of payment must be uploaded during registration
  • Team roster submission deadline: August 20, 2026

FORMAT

  • Knockout format
  • Teams of 8–12 players
  • Time control: 45 min + 30 sec increment
  • All teams will play all rounds

PRIZES

The following prizes will be awarded:

  • 1st place: €1,000.00
  • 2nd place: €600.00
  • 3rd place: €400.00

 

RATING

The tournament will be submitted for rating by FPX and FIDE for standard ELO ranking purposes.
